Disability Insurance Personal

Need Better Disability Insurance? Personal Plans may be Better

Many people have some form of disability insurance that covers them. Often this is from their employer that has this insurance, along with health insurance, as part of the benefits of working for their company. These insurance plans are relatively simple and straightforward while being tailored to the industry you are in. Some people, however, like to make disability insurance personal.

More Options but Higher Costs?

When you go out to find your own disability insurance, one of the advantages that are immediately apparent is a wider selection. Choosing you own plan allows you to customize your needs to your life style and circumstances. A disadvantage is that the costs are often higher since the premiums now have to be paid from your own pocket instead of your employer’s pocket.

Protected in Some Way

There is no reason to worry if you do not have a personal disability insurance plan. Most of the plans offered by companies to their employees offer adequate cover and even those people who do not have this advantage are eligible for government cover. Unless you are unhappy with the current plan or its clauses there is little reason to go out and make disability insurance personal. Everyone should be, and is, covered in some way.
