Doctor Disability Insurance
Doctor Disability Insurance For Specialist CareThere are many different types of insurance available and there are even different sorts of a certain type of insurance available. In disability insurance there are policies that are geared exclusively towards doctors and their needs. The reason for doctor disability insurance is simple: doctors work in a very specialized field and their disability insurance needs are often much different from, say, an accountant’s needs.
Covered When You Cannot Practice…Not Work
Standard policies state that it will not pay out if you are able to work in any way. This means that just because you can no longer, say, perform surgery but you are still able to work, as a waiter the insurance will not pay out. Doctor disability insurance, however, makes allowance for this instance and states that is a doctor is unable to make his or her income in the way that they have been making their income (i.e. practicing medicine) then the insurance will pay out. It is important to make sure that your insurance covers you the way you need it to cover you. If you are unsure then ask your broker or provider for more information.

Well thanks to this post, I finally understand why Doctors have their own type of disability insurance and it makes perfect sense. Being such high-paying jobs that require a huge investment to get started in is a very good reason to have a policy to protect a physician's standard of living.
