Disability Income Insurance

Why Disability Income Insurance is Vital

If you are responsible for your own livelihood and work hard for a living, you stand to lose a lot if you were to become disabled. If you are rendered unable to work due to an unexpected protracted illness or permanent injury, you need to have an ongoing form of financial support which will enable you to live comfortably despite physical difficulties. A disability income insurance plan will pre-empt any personal misfortune and lessen the blow.

Disability Income Insurance and Workers’ Compensation

Your employers are legally required to offer workers’ compensation, but it is unwise to live under the illusion that this will fully protect you in the case of an accident or serious illness. On the contrary, workers’ compensation only covers injuries sustained in the work place and if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident or another off-site injury, you will not be eligible for support. Disability income insurance is preferable and will provide a steady income.
