Disability Insurance

Disability Insurance – a Vital Precaution

If you are a young working professional, you should obtain a thorough disability insurance policy. If you were involved in an accident which cut short your working life long before retirement, you would need financial support which would compensate for a loss of earnings. Even long term illnesses can have a serious impact on your earnings, especially if you are self-employed and do not have any paid leave. A disability insurance plan will protect you financially.

Disability Insurance Offers Greater Protection

If you do not have a disability insurance plan, do not mistakenly believe that workers’ compensation will be adequate in the case of disability. Because workers’ compensation usually only covers injuries sustained in the workplace, you would not receive support if you sustained an injury elsewhere. A proper insurance plan will provide cover with fewer limitations so that you can be certain of a safety net which will be there to catch you when it really counts.
