CA Disability

CA disability is a type of disability insurance that is in place in the event that a person becomes sick or injured and cannot perform their required job duties for a length of time, whether it be a matter of weeks, months or even years. Paying bills can be taxing enough when you are healthy and working normal hours at your job but if you should get hurt your financial picture can easily become altered and not for the better. That is why all California residents should invest in Ca disability insurance, whether it be through a group or individual plan. At the present time in the United States only 20 percent of American citizens of a working age have some form of disability insurance and of those 20 percent, many do not have enough coverage to see them through the bad times.

As of statistics taken in 2003, an average of 4,152,000 individuals residing in the state of California has a disability that affects their life and their ability to earn a consistent income. In percentages this works out to be 12.9 percent of residents. Of these people, 783,000 (or 2.4 percent) have problems when it comes to some of the most basic activities of life such as moving about their homes (for example walking up and down stairs, getting in and out of bed, getting in and out of a chair and getting in and out of the bathtub) and bathing themselves, dressing themselves and generally just doing the things a person does to prepare for the day ahead. Ca disability is in order for so many people and not just those who are in high-risk occupations or who enjoy risky recreational activities (such as sky diving, mountain climbing or bungee jumping).

CA disability insurance can often be obtained through the California State Disability Insurance (SDI) program (sometimes simply called the DI program) which is a “partial wage-replacement insurance plan” for employees in the state of California. This form of Ca disability is mandated by the state and it is funded by way of payroll deductions taken from workers. Financially reasonable and benefits on a short-term basis only are awarded to those who qualify for this program when they must go without income for a period of time due to an injury or illness that is in no way related to something that occurred in the workplace. If you get hurt while you are working then the type of Ca disability you need to look into getting is Worker’s Compensation. The SDI plan also helps women who develop complications or other “medically disabling” problems as a result or being pregnant or giving birth.

A great majority of employees in the state of California qualify for the Ca disability by way of the DI program. At last count there were 12 million employees covered by it. However there are people who are not eligible for it and these include the majority of government workers, railroad workers, and those workers who claim religious exemptions and in some cases, people who work for non-profit organizations or associations.
