Choose Disability Insurance

Why should you choose disability insurance? You should choose disability insurance because it is money that will be there for you in the event that you are unable to work for any length of time. Choose disability insurance because it can take a load off your mind and your family’s mind. Be aware of the definition of disability insurance. Disability insurance is “A type of insurance coverage that provides for a certain portion of income that is lost due to a total or a partial disability that was brought on as a result of a sickness or an accident.”
Choose disability insurance whether you are single or married. No matter what your marital status is, everyone needs disability insurance. Choose disability insurance regardless of your present or past work experience and training or education. If you are in a high risk occupation or if you are in an occupation where there is little if any risk to you at all, make sure you get the disability insurance you need.
Choose disability insurance if you care about your personal welfare and your future financial needs. Consider the different types of disabilities that could happen to you. Disabilities can be either permanent or total permanent disability (TPD) or they could be a partial disability. Partial disabilities allow you to continue to work sporadically or on a part time basis whereas a total permanent disability means that you cannot work at what you were trained at and are qualified to do. In some cases those with a permanent disability can be retrained in another field of work but sometimes the disability will be in place until the person dies (and/or might even bring about the death of the individual).
Disability insurance is protection you may never need but it is always wise to purchase it. A total permanent disability can sometimes be insured by way of a conventional health plan or sometimes as a life insurance plan. The smallest of injuries could cause you to not be able to work therefore you can never insure yourself enough.
In most cases a group policy will pay from 50 to 60 percent of an employee’s income but is that really enough for you? You might do well to have both a group insurance plan for disability and supplement it with an individual disability insurance plan. There are advantages in having both because one provides you with what the other cannot. Together the two might provide you with 80 to 90 percent of your income that needs to be replaced.
Choose disability insurance because you do not need anymore financial worries on your plate. If you already have plenty of bills do not add to the pile by not insuring your most valuable asset, which is your ability to earn an income on a steady basis. Be good to yourself and show yourself respect and dignity by making sure that you make disability insurance a priority in your life right away. Your family will thank you as well for making your earning potential important to your life in general.
